Seven Rockbridge County High School athletes from the baseball, girls soccer and softball teams received all-district honors last week.
From the RC girls soccer team, which went 8-9-0 under first-year head coach Danny Wheeler, junior midfielder/forward Madelyn Jones and freshman forward/midfielder Lucy Boller-Pinkham were named to the all-district first team. Two juniors, defender Madeline Swisher and midfielder Lydia Kendall were selected to the all-district second team. The Wildcats bounced back from an 0-4 start to finish with their most wins in six years. RC went 6-6-0 in the Valley District and entered the Region 3C tournament as the eighth seed, concluding its season with a 12-0 road loss to top seed Western Albemarle last Wednesday.
The RC baseball team, which went 5-15 overall and 2-10 in the district under fifth-year head coach Travis Roadcap, had two all-district selections. Senior pitcher Sean Martino and junior shortstop Clay Irvine both made the all-district second team.
From the RC softball team, which went 5-15 overall and 1-11 in the district under fifth-year head coach Keston Pelter, sophomore pitcher Sadie Moore was named to the alldistrict second team.
All-district honors for the Parry McCluer High School softball team, along with honors for the RC lacrosse teams, will be announced later.
