To all of our community’s veterans and active duty members of our nation’s armed forces - thank you for your service! And, to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety, security and freedom of our country - we honor their memory. We hope everyone had a wonderful and safe Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Sending birthday wishes to Cami Blankenship and Ezra Wilson, as well as to Faith Baptist members Jace Henson and Logan Braford. Happy 57th anniversary to my husband’s grandparents, Ron and Jane Blair in Clearfield, Utah.
Faith Baptist Church will be having a Mother’s and Father’s Day Breakfast on June 1 at 9 a.m. Ladies Fellowship Time will be on June 3 at 10 a.m. and a Men’s Prayer Breakfast will be on June 5 at 8 a.m.
Many thanks to the Rev. Brad Laycock for leading a Holy Eucharist service for Trinity Sunday at St. John’s Episcopal Church. Thanks, also, to Sallie Thieleke for hosting coffee hour. St. John’s musicians, Bert Buford and Josh Gardner, played beautiful tributes to our country’s armed forces for Memorial Day. The closing hymn was “Almighty Father, Strong to Save,” which so elegantly honors all those who serve our country by space, air, land and sea. They ended with befitting fanfare in “God of Our Fathers” with Bert on organ and Josh on cornet.
A teacher from Germany and a couple from Switzerland were among the 25 AT hikers that attended the third Hikers Dinner on Monday, May 20.
A strong storm with high winds moved through our area lateSundayevening.Thewinds brought down several trees throughout the area, including one across the road from Arnolds Valley Southern Baptist Church which took down power lines along the road. Power was off throughout much of the Valley into the night and early morning. Debris from trees littered several roads throughout Natural Bridge Station, including Arnolds Valley, Lloyd Tolley Road and Stoner Hollow, as well as some heavy debris along Greenlee Road.
