On Sunday, May 26, the community Memorial Day Service was held at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church recognizing those veterans buried in the Collierstown Presbyterian Church’s cemetery. Providing leadership for the service were Roger Lees, Richard and Lindsey Davis, David McCormick, Mark and Tonya Fontenot, Chris Cartwright, and Cathy Badalamenti. Special thanks to Don and Joyce Reid and John Montgomery who made sure American flags were placed on veterans’ graves and arrangements for the service were completed.
On Sunday, June 9, at 10:30 a.m. Union View Advent Christian Church will hold its worship service at Lake Robertson. A traditional summer picnic for the membership and friends of the church will follow the service. Members are asked to “save the date,” bring friends, and several covered dishes to share.
The “Mystery Island” Vacation Bible School begins on Sunday, June 9, at 5:45 p.m. at the Palmer Community Center. The community’s churches will host VBS at the Palmer Community Center from 5:45 to 8. nightly the week of June 9-14. VBS has classes available for all ages and adults. Supper will be provided nightly. Families and area residents are invited to come and enjoy Bible study, crafts, recreation, and fellowship with friends and neighbors. Registration can be done by scanning the QR code found on the VBS flyers, coming early before VBS begins at 5:45 p.m., or by contacting one of the sponsoring churches: Union View Advent Christian Church, Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown Presbyterian, Collierstown United Methodist, Oxford Presbyterian, the Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, and the Rapps Mill Church.
