The Collierstown Presbyterian Church’s annual “Souper Bowl of Caring” food drive is underway. On Saturday, Feb. 11, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. church and community volunteers will be “packing the railed porch area” at the entrance to the church’s front doors with canned food, paper products, and monetary gifts to be donated to two local food banks, Rockbridge Area Relief Association and Helping Hands of Fairfield Presbyterian Church. The church invites the community and its churches to “stop by with donations” that day.

Contributions will be accepted this week, Feb. 6-10, at Goad’s Body Shop or Cattlemen’s Market from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Contributions may also be left in the specially marked containers on the ramp at the rear of the church building as well. Volunteers will pick up donations if requested. For more information on becoming a “Porch Volunteer” or to arrange a donation pick up, call the church at (540) 463-5918.

Monetary gifts can be mailed to Collierstown Presbyterian Church, 31 Church Drive, Lexington, VA 24450 and should be designated for “Pack the Porch.”

The annual Blanket Sunday campaign at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church closed out the week with additional donations, setting a record of $2,350 raised. The additional gifts will make it possible for 235 Church World Service blankets to be purchased and distributed. Many thanks for the generous outpouring of support from church members, the Collierstown Pioneer Club, area churches and community members.

The Collierstown United Methodist Women of Faith will have an appreciation dinner for the men of the congregation on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m.
