Attendance Urged For Events Venue Discussion

May 30, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette: This is to inform the people of Irish Creek, South River and all of Rockbridge County that a third Board of Supervisors meeting on the Irish Creek event venue will be held on June 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the county administration building located at 150 S. Main St., Lexington.

We urge everyone to attend and voice their opinions and we thank everyone for their support.

A vote was held on May 13, and the venue was voted down by a margin of 3-2. Later in the week this vote was deemed invalid for some very confusing reasons. Therefore, another vote will be taken on June 10. There are many reasons this venue is not suitable for Irish Creek. It is not zoned for business and is proposed for a very small area, about 13 acres with a 7,200-square-foot building, large parking area, large septic system and new bridge and access roads. Noise, light and traffic will affect neighbors and the entire community as there is virtually no buffer zone. Please attend and voice your oppositions.
