As Nelson Gallery has done for a number of years, the walls of the gallery in June will be graced by the offerings of artists expressing their feelings about two important subjects: the origins of slavery in America and the reality of domestic violence in our society.
The June show is sponsored, as before, by Project Horizon – and provides an opportunity for viewers to understand all that the organization does: its essential resources, advocacy and support for survivors on their journey to healing and empowerment.
The paintings and drawings are always expressive, imaginative and clever, sometimes even funny – an interesting mix that widely explores themes of resilience, identity and community, said a spokesperson.
The opening reception will be Friday, June 7, and the winners, including children and adults, will be announced at 6 that same night.
All who attend the show during the month can vote for the People’s Choice Award at the gallery. Winners will be announced on Project Horizon’s social media platform June 30.
