RC To Face Western Albemarle In State Girls Lax Finals Saturday

The Rockbridge County High School girls lacrosse team will take on defending state champion Western Albemarle in the Class 4 state championship game on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Charlottesville High School.

The Wildcats (17-1), the Region 4D champions, advanced to the state finals for the first time by earning an 11-7 home win over Hanover (14-3) in the state semifinals on Tuesday. Western (19-0), who won the Region 4A title, advanced to the championship game by earning a 16-15 home victory over Meridian in the state semifinals on Wednesday.

RC and Western have met in the last three state semifinals, with Western winning all three times, capturing a 16-10 home victory last year on its way to its first state title, a 14-11 win over Dominion. When RC and Western met on March 19 in Crozet, the Warriors won 15-7.

Admission to the state championship game is $10, and tickets can be purchased here: https://gofan.co/event/1534148?schoolId=VA12261.
