What Stalin, Hitler ‘Used To Say’

June 10, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette: Stalin used to say that if you are doing something bad you should accuse the other side of doing it. Loudly.

The letter about fascism in last week’s paper is an excellent example of this. A good propagandist should always include as much truth as you can in his message (even if it alternative truth). The assertion in the N-G piece is that the Democrats are fascists, and the New York trial proves it.

Neither is remotely true. It does not matter if that’s the case from their perspective because the publication of this letter in the N-G grants moral equality to the true fascists.

The fascists’ playbook is to attack all the institutions of the old regime and then step into the vacuum of power when they collapse. It does seem odd, given the press is categorized by them as enemies of the people. Trump says what he means and means what he says.

His policy guide will be the copy of “Mein Kampf” by his bedside. There were 14 million victims of the holocaust. Only 6 million were Jews. The rest were “enemies of the people,” as Stalin would have put it. His regime killed abound 70 million.

Hitler said, “I like that man Stalin. I will use him to rule Russia when I conquer it.” Stalin said after the Night of the Long Knives (when Hitler’s minions killed thousands of his SA supporters using the SD which became the Gestapo), “I like that man Hitler; he knows how to deal with his enemies.”

Trump just said “a lot of people do like the idea of me being a dictator on day one.” TOBIAS PHILBIN Lexington
