Mulitalo Recognized By Magazine

Rockbridge County High School sophomore attacker Lola Mulitalo was named Mid-Atlantic Player of the Week by USA Lacrosse Magazine for the last week of May.

Mulitalo followed up a monster game in Rockbridge’s 24-6 win over Blacksburg on May 24 in the Region 4D championship game, with two of the biggest goals of her young career to help the Wildcats edge Powhatan 13-12 in overtime in the Class 4 state quarterfinals on May 31.

In the state quarterfinals, RC trailed 12-11 when Mulitalo scored with 11 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to send it to overtime. Then, with 2:32 left in the second half of overtime, she fired in her fifth goal of the game on a free-position shot to win it. Four of her five goals came in the final quarter and overtime, and her overtime goal gave the Wildcats their only lead the entire game. Mulitalo was named the Region 4D Player of the Year and, through the state quarterfinals, had 66 goals, 55 assists, 18 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers this season. She has over 100 career goals and more than 180 career points.

In the win over Blacksburg, Mulitalo scored seven goals and had nine assists – seven of which went to either Anna Nye or Nala Shearer, who both had five goals – in the win over Blacksburg to propel the Wildcats to their fourth straight region crown.
