High Bridge

Esther Pennington, 291-2629

Happy Fathers’ Day to all our dads!

Summer worship hours continue at High Bridge Presbyterian Church as we begin service at 10 a.m. Deacons and volunteers will serve lemonade on the lawn after church throughout the summer. The schedule for “noisy can” offering and “wee church” is pending. We are taking a break from Sunday school classes this summer.

Visitors this past Sunday were former residents of the area, Robert and Connie Webb from Daleville.

The Natural Bridge High School class of 1957 has lost another member. John Barger died Tuesday, June 4, in Charlottesville. For years John made his home in Texas. Whenever he attended an event in our area, we always knew John by his signature white cowboy hat.

The High Bridge Presbyterian women will serve dinner to the Natural Bridge Ruritan Club on Tuesday, June 18.

Our Fourth of July picnic will feature special musical guest Col. John Brodie, who is retired from Virginia Military Institute. Deacons will grill hot dogs, and members of the congregation are asked to bring sides.

The Natural Bridge/ Glasgow food pantry will open on Saturday, June 15, from 9 to 11 a.m. The High Bridge congregation is collecting canned meats for the food pantry during the month of June.
