Juneteenth celebrations took place in Glasgow and Lexington last Friday and Saturday nights. Both events featured variety of activities, including a dinner, a program on segregation and the transition to desegregation, and a movie in Glasgow; and music, food and a visit by the Lexington Police Department's new mounted unit in Lexington.

Local observances wrap up on Wednesday with a free showing of the movie "The Watsons Go To Birmingham" at 5 p.m. in Stackhouse Theater at W&L.
