Septic, Well Assistance Deadline Extended

Rockbridge Conservation announced last week that money from its septic and well assistance program, or SWAP, is still available and that it is looking for more qualified applicants to seize this opportunity.

Rockbridge Conservation received a grant from the Virginia Department of Health, Division of Environmental Health, to administer a local Septic and Well Assistance Program for the Rockbridge area and hopes to use the full potential of this grant to support the members of the community who are most in need of clean water and a working septic system.

Rockbridge Conservation has extended the application period through July 31.

In order to be eligible, an applicant must own and reside in the home and the land it sits on; have an income under the allowed limits (see the application on Rockbridge Conservation’s website, or contact the group for specific limits); and need assistance for repairing or installing a septic system or well. Eligible projects are listed on the application and on the website.

There is no cost obligation to the eligible homeowner. Rockbridge Conservation hires all of the contractors and facilitates the permitting process on behalf of homeowners.

Anyone with questions or who requires additional information can contact Susan McLaughlin at susan. mclaughlin@rockbridgeconservation. org or at (540) 458-1539, or visit https:// www.rockbridgeconservation. org/swap-initiative/.

Applications are available not only on the website, but at any of the Rockbridge Regional Library branches, and at several social service facilities in Rockbridge County. They can also be mailed directly to the homeowner.
