“Mystery Island” Vacation Bible School concluded on Friday, June 14, at the Palmer Community Center. A closing program was held at 6 p.m. followed by a covered-dish dinner for all in attendance. Over 60 children and 50 adults participated in this year’s event that ran from Sunday, June 9, through Thursday, June 13. VBS participants conducted a penny challenge and accepted canned food items to be donated to Helping Hands, the food ministry of the Fairfield Presbyterian Church serving families in the Fairfield area. Churches hosting the event included Union View Advent Christian Church, Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown Presbyterian, Collierstown United Methodist, Oxford Presbyterian, Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church and the Rapps Mill Church.

On Sunday, June 30, the 11 a.m. worship service at the Collierstown United Methodist Church will be led by the laity. Following the service a covered-dish luncheon honoring the Rev. and Mrs. Bill Bearden will be held. The Rev. Bearden is retiring as the pastor of the Collierstown United Methodist Charge where he has faithfully served as minister to the Collierstown and Mt. Horeb congregations and the surrounding communities.
