Love Canon, Will Reid, SJ McDonald To Perform
The Freedom Food Festival returns to downtown Lexington next Wednesday, July 3, from 5 to 10 p.m.
Lexington’s Main Street is converted into a community street and music festival featuring live music, beer and wine sales, desserts, kid’s meals and a tasty Fourth of July-style cook-off competition. Admission is free, and the event will take place rain or shine.
This year’s festival will feature live music from Love Canon, Will Reid and SJ McDonald. The music and stage are arranged by Lime Kiln Theater.
Advance meal tickets for $20 and reserved tables for $300 can be purchased online at www.freedomfoodfestival. com. Meal tickets will be $25 on the day of the event.
The cook-off competition pairs area non-profit organizations with local chefs and kitchens. This year’s pairings and offerings include:

• Friends of Natural Bridge State Park + C.H.E.F.S Catering Co.

• Rockbridge Area Transportation System, Inc. (RATS) + Devils Backbone Brewing Co.
• Rockbridge County High School Baseball Team + Pure Eats
• Vet First, Inc. + Sweet Treats
• Yellow Brick Road Early Learning Center + Hogback Mountain BBQ
• Kid’s meals from Hull’s Angels, Inc.
• Pies and homemade ice cream from Friends of Rockbridge Swimming, Inc.

Additionally, alcohol will be available for purchase at participating restaurants for both inside and outside consumption within the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area. Participating restaurants include: Brew Ridge Taps, Haywood’s, Heliotrope Brewery, Juniper Lounge, Southern Inn Restaurant and TAPS.
The Freedom Food Festival is presented by the Lexington-Rockbridge Chamber of Commerce, Lexington and the Rockbridge Area Tourism, Main Street Lexington, the Southern Inn, along with steering committee members Laurie Macrae, Tara Orebaugh, Jason Melvin, Kasey Potter and Steve Givens.
