Bruce Skillicom will be featured as the July artist for Nelson Gallery.
A reception for the exhibit will take place at Nelson Gallery on July 5 starting at 5 p.m.
The artist considers this show to be (for him) a form of “reemergence” – meaning that these paintings will express his personal, illuminating experience of coming to live in Rockbridge County three years ago. Soon after arrival, Skillicom discovered the beauty and color that we all love (and quietly accept) imbedded in the hills and valleys, trees and meadows.
His show will be infused with his personal illuminating experience of discovery, revealed in landscapes that reflect beauty and light and design. Some scenes focus on dappled light, emphasizing vibrant color and where possible, reflected light off the water of streams and lakes.
He has won many awards for a body of work called “People At Work” – a series of portraits of people and animals, all commissioned by their owners.
