The Natural Bridge Garden Club held an intra-club flower show and picnic on June 10 at La Vue, home of long-time member and former club president Maureen Becker.
The competition attracted entries in three June-related categories: a wedding theme, a Gemini twin concept featuring two arrangements that complemented each other, and a display of emerging summer budding flowers.
Top winners were Master Gardener Carla Zorn for her arrangement in the Gemini twin category, while club President Diane Weaver won Best in Show for excellence in horticulture with a begonia specimen.
The club also surprised Becker, a Master Gardener, with a Penny Pines certificate of appreciation for her work with NBGC.
Penny Pines is a partnership between the National Garden Clubs, Inc., and the USDA Forest Service that helps to sustain America’s national and urban forests. More specifically, the donation will benefit the George Washington & Jefferson National Forest.
