Balloons’ Shoe Drive Successful
Balloons Over Rockbridge reported that its recently completed shoe drive collected 3,072 pounds of shoes, displacing 76,800 pounds of carbon dioxide and saving thousands of gallons of water.
The drive netted over $3,000 for Balloons over Rockbridge for its programs. Thanks to everyone who donated shoes to the project.

Workforce Center
Dr. John Rainone, president of Mountain Gateway Community College, and Dr. Ben Worth, vice president of academic affairs, recently accepted donations from the Lexington- Rockbridge Chamber of Commerce and the Bank of the James which will facilitate the advancement and expansion of the Wilson Workforce Center in Buena Vista.
The Wilson Workforce Center is set to enhance MGCC’s current offerings for electrical work, welding, building trades, diesel mechanics, machining, and more. The facility is anticipated to be completed by February 2025 and is expected to significantly contribute to the growth of the community and workforce for years to come.
