The Rockbridge County Farm Bureau recently announced the recipients of its 2024 microgrant program.
These micro-grants support young people in Rockbridge County who want to start or expand a rural enterprise.
Destany Haigler received a grant of fencing and chicken supplies to expand and improve the coop and pens for her flock of laying hens. Destany sells eggs from her flock to friends and neighbors.
Annalise Smith received a grant to build an enclosure and shelter for her Dwarf Nigerian Goats. Annalise is an active member of the Rockbridge County 4-H and hopes to show her goats at the Rockbridge Regional Fair and Expo which will be held at the Virginia Horse Center Sept. 12, 13, and 14.
