A guest conductor came from Harrisonburg High School and we spent two days rehearsing fun music and then performed a concert on Saturday. I enjoyed spending time with my friends in band and making friends with people from other high schools. I am the only French horn at PMHS and it was fun to be one of the four horn players in area band.

On Feb. 3-4, I went to an All-District Band at Staunton High School. District band is much more prestigious and students from as far away as Harrisonburg and Waynesboro can audition. Only four PMHS students got in. We spent those two days rehearsing four pieces of music and had a guest conductor from Patrick Henry High School. I was the 6th chair horn player out of eight horns. We performed a concert on the 4th. I made more friends that play my instrument and had fun playing the more challenging music.

In other news around Parry McCluer, there is a pet food drive happening through Feb. 17. If you’d like to donate to our furry friends, bring your food to PMHS.

On Feb. 18, there will be a Sweetheart Dance in the gym from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Both single and couple students can participate.
