Sam Houston Ruritan Club Thanks Supporters
The Sam Houston Ruritan Club would like to thank its sponsors as the club continues to support the community.
The sponsors include Leslie Excavating and Landscaping LLC, MP2 Contractors, IHOP, CornerStone Bank, Goads Body Shop, The Well-Pet Group, Lexington Rx Center, Shenandoah Dental Studio, Spencer Home Center, Natural Bridge Heating and Air, Bahhurs Pre-Owned Cars and Trucks, and Sterling Properties and Management.
“We are working hard to improve our building to be more accessible,” said a spokeswoman. “We offer winter storage rental for recreational vehicles and boats, storage bin and barn rental for reunions or parties. If you are interested in sponsoring an advertisement banner or one of our rental opportunities, please contact Mickey Cochrane at (540) 570-3300.”
The club thanks Cats Unlimited and the Master Gardeners Club for outstanding events held at the barn this past year. The club also wants to express its sincere gratitude to the Lexington High School Class of 1970 for the generous donation given at its reunion.
This past year, the club was able to donate to Project Horizon, South River Volunteer Fire Department, Fairfield Rescue Squad, Buena Vista Fire Department, Buena Vista Rescue Squad, Rockbridge SPCA, Connections Plus Healthcare (formally Hospice), Rockbridge Area Relief Association, the Rockbridge Christmas Basket Program, South River Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Effinger Fire Department in memory of J.D. Clemmer, Hunters for the Hungry, Habitat For Humanity, the Rockbridge County 4-H Poultry program and Stockman’s Club.
After hosting several bazaars and yard sales, and the generosity of Balloons over Rockbridge, the club was able to expand its 2024 scholarship program and awarded $6,000 to area seniors who will be honored at the club’s annual picnic in July. Congratulations go out to Brendan Brown, who graduated from Rockbridge Christian Academy, and Zachary Majors, Matthew Tanner, Wyatt Jarvis and Michael Earhart, all graduates of Rockbridge County High School.
The club also paid for and coordinated the repairs to the Sam Houston monument at Timber Ridge, assisted with the Lexington Christmas Parade lineup, and with the trash pickup on Valley Pike for the Adopt a Highway program. “We are so grateful to our friends and neighbors who assist us with this task,” the spokeswoman said.
