After 38 years with Rockbridge Area Community Services, Tamela “Tammy” McDaniel officially retired on June 14.
She was hired in 1986 by the very first RACS executive director and served as part of the administrative team in payroll in some capacity throughout the duration of her career.
Her attention to detail to ensure that RACS met every deadline is a testament to her talent, enthusiasm and willingness to serve in numerous capacities, said Michele Mathis, the director of finance and administration.
“She was the epitome of customer service and was very much appreciated by all her colleagues,” Mathis said. “Every employee since 1986 knew her and respected her dedication and knowledge. She made a very positive impact on all of us and taught us a thing or two. We are grateful for Tammy’s commitment to our organization and her valuable contributions to our administrative team.”
Kim Shaw, the executive director, commented, “Tammy’s willingness to help her colleagues and genuine caring attitude will be missed at RACS. Her steadfast commitment to excellence was without compare. We wish Tammy all the best that life has to offer as she enjoys retirement!”
McDaniel plans to spend time with her family and friends, sleep late, and travel.
