A strong thunderstorm last Wednesday took out a number of trees in the Rockbridge Baths area, including one that crushed the former Aria Antiques store building. AT RIGHT, Rockbridge Baths firefighters Angela Bowles, Andy Bowles and Gerald Switzer clear a tree on Terrell Drive. Despite this past week’s multiple rains, crops were already hard hit by the dry, hot weather, and the county declared a drought emergency Monday. For details, see page A5.
