As I write this, Trump survived an extremely close call assassination attempt and Biden has announced he was not running for reelection. Wow! What a week!
One thing, it certainly shows the danger of early voting. What happens if a candidate for office drops out; is unable to serve; or a victim of health or assassination and people voting early will have their votes cancelled?
For the past three years, Americans have watched President Biden seem to be going downhill mentally and physically. They watched him stumble; seem confused; not able to find his way off a stage; talking gibberish during speeches and even trying to shake hands with someone who isn’t there.
The people around Biden, including Harris and the media did their best to claim Biden was “sharp as a tack” and that in the White House he “runs circles around the younger members of his staff.” T hey claimed it was just “right wing MAGA supporters” trying to make issues of minor incidents.
Biden challenged Trump to an early debate with many pro-Biden requirements. Trump accepted Biden’s restrictions. The “smarter than a tack” Biden then spent six days in preparation. The liberal media set the bar so low that if Biden did fairly well it would be a win for Biden.
The debate was a shock to the millions of Americans watching as Biden from the first question on seemed confused, froze several times and even mumbled gibberish. Trump clearly was the winner. Biden’s efforts at a one-on-one interview and the “Big Boy Press Conference” did not convince most who saw the debate.
Democrats began to worry. Sen. Mark Warner began making contacts about replacing Biden. Soon congressmen and Democrat heavyweights Obama and Pelosi began calling for Biden to “pass the torch.”
Kamala Harris is who Biden wants to replace him on the ballot but Democrats worry as Harris has never been a popular vice president. She was appointed “border czar” by Biden and only made a photo op visit to the border minus the thousands of illegals flooding into the country due to Biden’s Open Border Policies — policies endorsed by Harris!
She went to a few Central American countries but the meetings did nothing. Soon the illegals began coming from China, the Middle East, Africa and countries of the former Soviet Union.
Harris is remembered for bailing out the rioters in Minneapolis that burned down a police station, factories, businesses, homes and apartments and looted others. When questioned, Harris said the riots need to keep going and “they are not going to be stopped, nor should they.”
Her comments and later soft on crime positions like defund the police, no bail, making shoplifting up to hundreds of dollars only misdemeanors, and dismissing felonies down to misdemeanors caused many people to feel less safe and see crime as a major problem.
Democrats think Harris is going to be a strong abortion supporter but the Supreme Court has made this a state issue. Most states, like Virginia, have adopted laws close to Roe v Wade decision allowing abortion in the first two trimesters.
The extremists in the Democrat Party want to allow abortion for any reason into the third trimester right up to the moment of birth. Even many pro-choice advocates have problems with this extreme stand. Harris has supported this extreme stand.
The Democrats changed the rules ending Iowa and New Hampshire from having the first caucus and primary in the nation and put South Carolina first to ensure a Biden early win and steps to keep any candidate from running against Biden in other primaries.
Now many Democrats want to bypass the unpopular Harris and replace her with someone else they think will do better in the election, ignoring the fact most delegates were elected to support the Biden and Harris ticket. The liberal media now seem confused on whether they support Harris or want someone else.
Clearly it will be an interesting few weeks ahead. Harris’ record (or lack of?) will be an issue used by both Republicans and Democrats opposed to her.
The average American, whether Democrat, Republican or independent, are going to be asking will unpopular open border, soft on crime, high inflation, and failed international policies change with Harris or some other Democrat? Will the media be fairer and more honest with coverage of both candidates for president and other national offices? Does early voting continue to make sense?
Questions for your consideration as we go into the 2024 election.
