BV Accepts Kroger’s Opioid Settlement
Buena Vista has joined the settlement of opioid-related claims against Kroger’s pharmacies.
City Council voted 6-0 last Thursday to participate in the settlement that calls for Kroger’s to pay $1 billion in damages to those who have been adversely impacted by the opioid epidemic. In Buena Vista and in communities across the nation, the epidemic has negative affected “the delivery of emergency medical, law enforcement, criminal justice, mental health and substance abuse services,” according to a resolution adopted by City Council.
Funds from the settlement will be allocated in the same manner as with settlements entered into previously with other defendants Janssen, Teva, Allergan, Walmart, CVS and Walgreens.
