Editor, The News-Gazette: Mr. Rose’s recent commentary contained allegations disguised as facts without any substantial attributions that could have lent some credibility to the assertions.
To claim that former President Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian senior officials in a 2017 meeting is merely a regurgitation of a baseless story, that was posted by the Washington Post, that lacked many of customary journalistic protocols such as “Who, What, When, Where, Why, How” as does Mr. Rose’s posting. The story was strongly denied by persons involved.
This type of journalistic “integrity” reminds one of the tragic quotes by President John F. Kennedy “No matter how big the lie; repeat it often enough and the masses (majority of the people) will regard it as the truth.”
Since Mr. Rose insists that his wisdom obliged him to say what he said, I trust future posts will include a smattering of facts so as to add a modicum of integrity to his wisdom. GLENN MON Rockbridge County
