The Rockbridge Area NAACP is sponsoring a blood drive at the Thompson Community Center at 207 Catawba St., Friday, Aug. 2, from noon to 4 p.m. Patients fighting sickle cell disease may require regular blood transfusions to avoid health crises. You can make a difference. Donate blood.
The Concerned Citizens of Glasgow is planning “The Back Home Reunion” for Aug. 2-4.
On Friday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m., will be a meet and greet time with a free spaghetti dinner.
On Saturday, Aug. 3, there will be a parade at 10 a.m. Food and games begin at noon and a dance later at 7 p.m.
Friday and Saturday activities will be at the Thompson Center. This is a free admission event, but food will be available for sale on Saturday; also some games will require an entry fee. There will also be various vendors and a 50/50 raffle.
On Sunday, Aug. 4, Union Baptist Church will be celebrating homecoming at 11 a.m.
The Farmers’ Market is still open on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Waynelee Zollman and his crew are usually on hand on Fridays with produce such as red tomatoes, corn, squash, cucumbers, etc. Henry Hatcher has now joined the market family with tomatoes, green beans, squash and more. Donnie Linkenhoker is beginning to bring some fresh veggies as well. Come get your veggies and help support the the market, rain or shine. They are still negotiating with some groups to have prepared foods available for purchase.
Mark and Rhonda Rogers and grandchildren Isaiah and Makenzie spent some days at Busch Gardens recently. They were also were able to visit Martha Ramer in her new home in the Williamsburg area.
