Project 2025 Trump’s Playbook

July 23, 2024

Editor, The News-Gazette: Donald Trump tried to have his followers overthrow the government Jan. 6, 2021; now he plans to overthrow the government in a more subtle manner. If he should be re-elected, his blueprint will be Project 2025, which aims to give him total unrestricted power to do anything he wants. Trump is now distancing himself from Project 2025 for reelection purposes, but 140 previous employees of the Trump administration along with other allies helped develop the agenda for Project 2025.

This agenda calls for the expansion of presidential power by overhauling federal departments, including the Justice Department and FBI, by firing 50,000 current employees, many of them vets, and replacing them with political cronies; dismantling the Department of Education and transferring funds from public schools to private and religious schools; revoking approval of the abortion pill and taking steps to restrict abortion procedures; (note, in the past, JD Vance has said he is against abortions for victims of rape or incest, which usually involves children, and has called for a national ban); requiring all states to report abortions to the CDC; promoting fertility awareness-based methods of birth control instead of contraception; restructuring Congress and judicial branch so Trump can defy Supreme Court decisions and legislation by Congress; letting big banks control the money instead of the federal reserve; cutting some disabled veterans benefits; undoing much of the federal government’s work on climate change and curtailing research; and much more.

Project 2025 will enable Trump to govern more like Russia’s Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, both of whom he admires. The words of unity mentioned at the GOP convention are campaign rhetoric, nothing more. Project 2025 NOT mentioned at the convention is Trump’s second term playbook. LINDA S. BLACK Glasgow
