Family Gathers For Birthdays

Family Gathers For Birthdays

Two milestone birthdays were celebrated on Saturday, May 11, in Leesburg: Mary Locke Parsons Black’s 80th (formerly of Natural Bridge) and grandson Jonah Black’s sweet 16.

The attendees enjoyed a buffet dinner of crab cakes, salmon, barbecue, corn on the cob, macaroni and cheese, and assorted salads. A large red velvet cake, decorated with skate board symbols and flowers was arranged by daughter/aunt Rebecca Black.

Daughter-in-law Tammy Black edited a book, “The Stories of My Life” of Mary Locke Black. A picture of Mary in her drum majorette uniform holding her baton was placed on the cover of the book. A photo slideshow of the celebrants was arranged by daughter-in-law/aunt Emily Black.

Over 30 family and friends attended the event. Joy and Finley Wymer came the furthest from Charleston, S.C. Finley Wymer presented his cousin Jonah with a skull whistle he made. Cousins Beth and Alec Skidmore were sure to give Jonah the best car detailing products since he is saving for a car. The family gathered for a family photo on the deck.

CELEBRATING two milestone birthdays were Mary Locke Parsons Black (80) and Jonah Black (16), who were surprised with a large red velvet iced cake decorated with skate boarding symbols and flowers.
