Buena Vista Economic Assistant Hired

The role of economic development and marketing assistant – a new position created in Buena Vista for the new fiscal year – has been filled.

Ally Haney began her new job last week. The Ithaca, N.Y., native and 2023 graduate of Southern Virginia University is working in the office of Director of Economic Development Kristina Ramsey.

Haney’s primary responsibilities include managing the city’s social media account, keeping the community upto- date on events happening in the city and making public announcements. She said she’s “looking forward to getting to know the community more and learning how to best support the city of Buena Vista.”

Haney holds a bachelor’s degree in design with a concentration in graphic design. During her time at SVU, she held several internships focused on student involvement and activities, helping to promote a “fun and engaging campus atmosphere.” In her free time she loves being creative and enjoys such activities as sewing, drawing and painting.
