The Mountain Gateway Community College (MGCC) Career Services Center is relocating to the Mo omaw Center. This move is part of MG C C’s c om mi t ment to providing accessible and centralized career resources to the community, its students and alumni.
Established in January 2024, the Career Center was originally situated in the main lobby of Warren Hall. Rob Cantrell, a valuable addition to the Mountain Gateway team, serves as the MGCC Career Services Coordinator. While the college has previously offered career assistance through other programs, the centrally located career center is the first of its kind, dedicated to helping students secure employment.
“Warren Hall was a wonderful space to launch the Career Center, but I’m pleased that our needs have already outgrown it and even more thrilled to have such a perfect spot to upgrade into,” said Cantrell. “The new location offers a central space for student working, charging and lounging, and its larger size allows us to offer a wealth of additional free services to our community.”
Any college student, alumnus, or high school student, regardless of their enrollment in MGCC or any other college within the United States, is eligible for free services through Mountain Gateway’s Career Center. These services, provided in person and online, encompass job hunting assistance, career skills training, including resume and cover letter assistance, mock interviews, employer events, and career fairs.
The center is scheduled to reopen in late August in the Moomaw Center, in place of the MGCC bookstore. Appointments are encouraged, and drop-ins are welcome.
