Buena Vista is once again partnering with a group of local timber framers to construct another component of the city’s town square project. The group is returning to downtown Buena Vista this fall to build a new stage cover for the town square.
This second timber framers’ build will take place Oct. 3-6. It promises, said Kristina Ramsey, the city’s director of economic development, “to add a stunning and functional element to our vibrant downtown area.” The stage cover “will be constructed at the heart of the town square, continuing the momentum of creating a lively and inviting community space.”
The design of the stage cover will match the pavilion that was completed in April as part of the timber framers spring project, incorporating traditional craftsmanship that pays homage to the region’s rich history and natural beauty.
“This collaboration not only underscores the city’s commitment to fostering local talent but also highlights the collective effort of the community in building a space where everyone can gather, celebrate and create lasting memories,” she said.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with our local timber framers once again for this important component of the town square project. Their craftsmanship and dedication will help us bring another exciting element to our downtown area, further enriching our community space.”
She said the city is calling on community members and organizations to support the project through various fundraisers. In addition, the city is seeking donations of meals and snacks to keep the volunteers energized throughout the build. “This is a unique chance for the community to come together and contribute to a project that will benefit Buena Vista for years to come,” said Ramsey.
