Kerrs Creek

Rachel Clark, (630) 607-9938 [email protected]

Thank you to Tim and Janeen Welsh for organizing a great day for the New Monmouth Presbyterian Church youths on Saturday. The youths did a wonderful job of painting the railings leading up to the church. They followed up their service project with lunch and some fun at the river.

Thank you to Laura Hotinger for playing piano during Sunday’s worship service. The praise song was “Come Ye Souls by Sin Afflicted,” led by Casey, Calvin and Rachel Clark. The Scripture lesson was from Luke 18:1-8, where Jesus tells the parable of the Judge and the widow. Jesus told this parable to encourage his followers (throughout all generations) to persist in prayer. The flowers in the sanctuary were placed in honor of Karen Duff who had a birthday last week.

Ladies Circle is this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Clark house. We will discuss “The Practice of the Presence of God” by Brother Lawrence.

We need Sunday school teachers, especially upper elementary age. Let Casey know if you can help.

Communion will be celebrated on Sept. 1 and Sept. 8. The church retreat will take place Sept. 6-8. Those attending the retreat will have a worship service at Masanetta Springs (with communion served) and there will be a service at New Monmouth at 11 a.m. on Sept. 8 (with communion served). Our summer worship schedule continues through Labor Day weekend. Sept. 8 will be the first 11 a.m. service. Sunday school will kick off on Sept. 15.

New Monmouth is looking for compassionate and responsible individuals willing to serve in the church nursery on Sunday mornings from 9:45 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Call Pastor Rachel Clark for more information or to apply (630) 607-9938.

Make your calendars for our annual chili cook off which will take place on Sunday, Oct. 20. Sign up to bring your favorite chili, cornbread or pie!
