A Rockbridge acoustic band, The Caravan of Fools, will perform at Boxerwood this Friday, Aug. 23. The band began in the winter of 2020 when members Holly Ostby and Ben Worth jammed on screened-in porches with masks and space heaters seeking some peace and fun. Burr Datz joined in the spring of 2021, then Lee Sauder sat in on a gig. The chemistry was there, and now there are four Fools. The Fools perform songs from John Prine to Keb Mo to Elvis Costello to Janis Joplin, the Dead, The Band and more. Admission is free for Boxerwood members, $5 per adult for nonmembers. Kids under 18 and parking are free. Pass-the-hat proceeds go to the band. The gate opens at 5:30 p.m., and music begins at 6:30 p.m. In the event of rain, the concert will be rescheduled.
