Karyn Gardner, (540) 228-2176, (540) 655-3646 [email protected]

Sending birthday wishes to my brother-in-law Collin Moore in Champaign, Ill., Scott Dransfield, Debbie Wilhelm, Kyong “Ume” Williams, and to Faith Baptist Church members Katherine Braford, Chris Jones and Marcia Wilcher, as well as to St. John’s Episcopal member Brandall Branch. My husband Josh and I will be celebrating our eighth wedding anniversary on Aug 25.

Faith Baptist Church will have an annual business meeting on Aug 25 at 6 p.m., a Men’s Prayer Breakfast on Aug 28 at 8 a.m. and a Ladies Fellowship meeting coming up on Sept 2.

Many thanks to the Rev. Chip Phren for leading a Holy Eucharist service on Sunday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, and to Bert Buford and Josh Gardner for providing music. Thanks also to Courtney VanOsten for hosting coffee hour.

Coming up on Sept 1 at St. John’s is the annual “Worship by the River” service. This service will be led by the Rev. Anne Grizzle in affiliation with Boys Home of America. The boys are hosted all weekend by St. John’s and Christ Church in Buena Vista. They camp out near Gilmores Mill on property owned by the VanOstens and early Sunday morning, they kayak down the James River from Natural Bridge Station to Glasgow to meet for the riverside service. There will be a luncheon at St. John’s after the service. All are welcome to join the service which will begin at 11 a.m. at Glasgow Landing and for the luncheon after. Come as you are and bring a chair or a blanket.

Mark your calendars for the Thunder BRidge Art Festival Open Studios on Oct. 19. The event will last from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thunder BRidge’s 13 resident artists will open their studios to the public. More details coming soon.
