‘Let’s Choose Hope Over Fear’ During Election

Aug. 22, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette: There was a time in the not too distant past when it would have been unthinkable that a convicted felon and adjudicated sexual abuser could have been considered for public office, much less earn any support from the voting public.

That behavior is disqualifying for jobs in many fast food chains and certainly law enforcement agencies.

Yet there are so many willing to give a man who has perverted our justice system the most important job in the world. Where does this trust come from? It’s time to take a collective look in the mirror to see who we are and, more importantly, who we want to be as Americans.

Let’s choose hope over fear; integrity over lies; progress over pettiness; inclusion over division; optimism over grievance; results over retaliation; civility over chaos; vision for the future over revision of the past; resurrection over insurrection; freedom over tyranny; joy, hope and love over anger, resentment and hate; and most importantly, liberty and justice for all.
