Faith Baptist Church will have a Men’s Prayer Breakfast today, Aug 28, at 8 a.m. and a Ladies Fellowship meeting coming up on Sept 2.
Many thanks to the Rev. Brad Laycock for leading a Holy Eucharist service on Sunday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, and to Bert Buford, Josh Gardner, Courtney VanOsten and Kim Serocki for providing music. This was Rev. Brad’s last Sunday at St. John’s, as he is moving out of state. The Rev. Laycock has been a visiting clergyman leading worship at St. John’s for many years. We are all grateful to him for his service, friendship and faithful guidance, and we will miss him. We wish him all the best!
Thanks also to Kris Springer and Bruce Skillicorn for hosting coffee hour.
Coming up on Sept 1 at St. John’s is the annual “Worship by the River” service. This service will be led by the Rev. Anne Grizzle in affiliation with Boys Home of America. There will be a luncheon at St. John’s after the service. All are welcome to join the service, which will begin around 11:30 a.m. at Glasgow Landing and for the luncheon after! Come as you are and bring a chair or a blanket!
Coming up later this year at Thunder BRidge on Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., renowned local artist Lenny Lyons Bruno will help folks make their own versions of the famous, sometimes funky, scarves she has offered for sale in the past. Bruno maintains an art studio at Thunder BRidge.
The workshop fee of $150 includes lunch. Maximum class size is 12, so you may want to register now. Participants should bring at least three fabric selections (a sweater or two and other fabrics). Sewing machines and sample materials will be available for use. Attendees are invited to bring their own machines.
Thunder BRidge, at 1425 Arnolds Valley Road in Natural Bridge Station, will host the workshop in its dining hall.
For help in deciding what materials to bring, please contact Lenny at [email protected].
To register, please send an email to thunderbridgecampground@ gmail.com. Please include your name, snail mail address, phone number, whether you will bring your own sewing machine, and any information you would like others to know about your background and interests. Thunder BRidge will then follow up to arrange payment by check, Venmo, or Zelle.
