The Music and Worship Ministry of Manly Memorial Baptist Church is inviting area residents to participate in the following upcoming music activities. Membership at Manly is not required for participation in these ministries.
Sanctuary Choir Christmas Cantata
The sanctuary choir will present the cantata “Christmas Presence” by Pepper Choplin Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. All seventh-graders to senior adults who can match pitch and would like to participate in the cantata are welcome to join.
Choir rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. with the first half of each rehearsal devoted to the cantata. The choir is under the direction of Dr. Gregory Parker, worship leader at Manly.
Children’s Choir
Children in kindergarten through grade six are welcome in the church’s children’s choir. Children’s choir rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m. in the children’s choir room starting Sept. 11.
The choir will sing for the 11 a.m. worship services on Oct. 27 and Dec. 15. It is under the direction of Lori Parker, a national board-certified music teacher who spent nine years teaching K-3 music in North Carolina.
Also, the children and their families are welcome to enjoy supper at 5:45 p.m. each Wednesday during the school year.
Handbell Choir
Anyone who has ever rung handbells or is interested in learning how is invited to participate in Manly’s handbell choir. Rehearsals will take place on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the church choir room starting Sept. 26, and the choir will play for worship services on Nov. 3 and Dec. 1.
