Aly Colón, John S. and James L. Knight Professor of Media Ethics Emeritus at Washington and Lee University, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who as a preeminent figure in the field of media ethics.
Factors such as position, notewor thy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in a field are all considerations during the selection process for Who’s Who.
Established in 1898, Marquis Who’s Who produces a variety of publications containing reliable and comprehensive biographical data for the most accomplished individuals and innovators from every significant field of endeavor, including politics, business, medicine, law, education, art, religion and entertainment. Who’s Who in America remains an essential biographical source for thousands of researchers, journalists, librarians and executive search firms worldwide.
“I was surprised and honored to be selected for Who’s Who,” said Colón. “However, I believe that honor belongs to Washington and Lee, the Knight Foundation, NBC News and Telemundo Network News and the Poynter Institute. They all provided a place for me to focus on ethics.”
Colón retired this summer following 10 years as a member of the W&L faculty. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Loyola University New Orleans and a master’s degree in journalism from Stanford University. He spent a year at Columbia University as a Knight-Bagehot Fellow, focusing on business, and held a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship on ethics at the University of Kansas. Most recently, Colón served as a director of standards and practices at NBC News and Telemundo Network News.
