The Effinger Volunteer Fire Department will hold its final barbecue chicken sale this Saturday, Sept. 7, beginning at noon. Chicken halves and chicken dinners will be available for purchase until all are sold. A chicken dinner includes a half chicken, two sides, applesauce, roll and iced tea. The side choices will be green beans, baked beans, potato salad, macaroni salad and slaw. Food items may be purchased as carryout. Seating for indoor dining will also be available.

The Collierstown United Women in Faith will meet tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m. at the church. Linda Painter will lead the evening’s program. On Sunday, Sept. 8, a song service under the leadership of Amy Hayslette will be held at 4 p.m. at Heritage Hall Health & Rehab Center. The church has begun a Bible study class following worship on the first and third Sundays of the month. The Faith Fellowship class is led by Cheryl Meyer and welcomes all ages to a study of the book of John.

The Collierstown Presbyterian Women invite area women to attend one of its two Bible study groups. The Night Circle will hold its first meeting tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. in the church’s fellowship hall. This year’s study is entitled “Hospitality: God’s Call to Compassion”. This evening study will be available on Facebook Live at 7 p.m. from the church’s Facebook page. For more information call Debbie McCormick at (540) 460-1325. The C&F Circle will begin its Bible study year on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m. in the church’s fellowship hall using the Horizons study entitled “Let Justice Roll Down, God’s Call to Care for Neighbors and All Creation. Sunday, Sept. 22, is Homecoming Day at the Union View Advent Christian Church. The Homecoming worship service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by a covered-dish luncheon. The day will conclude with a program of gospel singing and music provided by the Ladies of Mercy. Members and friends of the Union View Advent Christian Church are asked to save this date and come celebrate the church’s years of ministry to members and the community.

The Collierstown United Methodist Charge will hold a joint worship service for the Collierstown and Mt. Horeb congregations on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Lake Robertson pavilion. The Rev. Daniel Montague will lead the service. A covered-dish picnic will follow the worship hour. Members and friends of the two congregations are invited to worship and fellowship together.

On Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. a Community Revival will be held at the Palmer Community Center hosted by the churches of the Buffalo, Effinger and Collierstown communities. The revival will be led by Gospel Hill Ministries. Music will be provided by Datz Us Trio. All are invited to bring a lawn chair and join in this service of praise and worship.
