Boxerwood will host a volunteer information session this Friday, Sept. 13, from 4 to 5 p.m. for anyone considering more involvement with this local environmental educational non-profit.
During an interactive presentation, attendees will learn about various pathways for volunteering and have a chance to ask questions.
Well-known as a 15-acre horticultural treasure, Boxerwood welcomes garden volunteers ready to put their hands in the earth. Equally important, the organization also seeks those who would like to assist with various public programs and especially Project NEST, Boxerwood’s multi-school partnership program that annually connects more than 120 classrooms with nature and its care.
“There are many different ways to participate in Boxerwood’s earth care mission,” explained Elise Sheffield, Boxerwood program director, “and this Sept. 13 session is a great way to find out more without need for any commitments. Whether you are ready to get started or not, come find out what’s happening – and spread the word!”
Open to people of all ages, there are volunteer opportunities for those with experience as well as those ready to acquire training.
“We have many options for volunteering,” explained Sheffield, “and our professional staff can follow-up individually to discern best fit.”
The information session will be held outdoors in the Boxerwood pavilion at 963 Ross Road and indoors if inclement weather. Registration is not required, but helps with the planning. Refreshments will be provided.
To register, call Boxerwood at (540) 463-2697 or visit online at boxerwood.org/volunteer.
