The Rockbridge Chorus, William McCorkle, director, will begin rehearsals for its 2024-2025 season on Monday, Sept. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Lexington Presbyterian Church. Rehearsals will continue on Monday evenings at 7:30 at Lexington Presbyterian.
At the Sept. 23 rehearsal, the chorus will begin work on its holiday concert, to be given on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Lexington Presbyterian Church, featuring carols and holiday songs from many lands and carol singing with the audience. The season will also include a February performance by the Rockbridge Chamber Singers of music by the 17th-century master musician, Heinrich Schütz, and a full-chorus performance in April featuring works by Gilbert and Sullivan.
All interested singers are invited to attend Monday’s rehearsal. There is a membership fee, but scholarship assistance is available. Anyone wishing more information, or any singer planning to sing but unable to attend the opening rehearsal, is asked to call Melanie Griffis Hooper at (540) 460-9650.
The Rockbridge Chorus is a part of the Rockbridge Choral Society, which is supported by donations from area individuals, businesses, and organizations.
