Sept. 13, 2024 Editor, The News-Gazette: While many bizarre halftruths and outright lies were promoted by Donald Trump during the debate with Kamala Harris, the most outstanding one was the totally unsubstantiated rumor that immigrants, “In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs. The people that came in. they’re eating the cats. They’re eating – they’re eating the pets of the people that live there. And this is what’s happening in our country, and it’s a shame.” When he was informed by the moderator that this was an unsubstantiated rumor, he continued to insist it was true.
I think that the American people need to ask themselves, “Is this person that believes these wild rumors, the same person we want with his hand on nuclear weapons?” If you can’t bring yourself to vote for Harris at least, for the sake of humanity, just don’t vote for Trump.
