The Brownsburg Community Association invites area residents to come run, jog, walk or stroll from Brownsburg to Wade’s Mill this Saturday, Sept. 21, in the family friendly seventh annual Run of the Mill 5K.
The point-to-point course over rolling tarmac bisects farmland and crosses several creeks in north Rockbridge County on the way to the finish line at historic Wade’s Mill. All ages and abilities are welcome, including children in strollers and canine companions on leash.
The top three female and male finishers receive prizes, with first prize being a custom shoe fitting and a free pair of shoes from Lex Running Store. The youngest and oldest finishers, the first baby in stroller and the first dog also receive prizes. The awards ceremony is followed by a free hot dog lunch for all participants and spectators.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at Wade’s Mill where participants and spectators will find ample parking. Buses will shuttle runners to the starting line in Brownsburg where the race starts at 10 a.m.
Preregistration is $20 and includes a “Run of the Mill” t-shirt. Visit https:// www.brownsburgva. com/2024-7th-annualrun- of-the-mill. Preregistration closes on Friday. Participants can also register on the morning of the 5K for $25. All registrants receive a “swag bag.”
Proceeds from the Run of the Mill 5K support college scholarships for local students, local fire and rescue departments and community projects and charitable activities.
