Habitat’s Chill On The Hill Returns

In celebration of its 35th year of service to local individuals and families of limited means, Rockbridge Area Habitat for Humanity will host its third annual Chill on the Hill “Friend raiser” at Great Valley Farm Brewery & Winery on Sunday, Sept. 29, from noon to 3 p.m.

This year’s Chill on the Hill will feature live music by Koty and Lewane, food by The Lexington Mercantile and First Due BBQ, and a raffle with prizes.

“This is our most important friend and fundraiser of the year, and it is a lot of fun for everyone,” said Habitat Executive Director Lynne Johnson. “It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate those who have helped us most in fulfilling our mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope, and making the dream of home ownership a reality for local folks of limited means. It is also a great opportunity to learn about volunteer and donorship opportunities in support of Habitat’s mission.

“We give a hand up, not a handout, through our home ownership and critical home repair programs, and this event is an opportunity to contribute to each of these vital programs that strengthen our community so much.”

Raffle prizes for this year’s event feature the following: First prize: Artwork by award-winning local artist Ryan Russell. Second prize: Two gift certificates to Habitat ReStores in Buena Vista and Lexington.

Third prize: Active wear pullover with the Habitat logo. Attendees can purchase meal tickets on site for use with either of the event’s food vendors. Beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be offered by Great Valley Farm Brewery & Winery. A percentage of all beverage sales will go towards supporting Rockbridge Area Habitat’s affordable housing mission.
