Walker, Wood Families Will Be Honored At First Baptist
The Walker and Wood families will be honored when First Baptist Church celebrates the anniversary of the church and its pastor this Sunday.
The fellowship hall will be named in memory of Clarence Mosby Wood and Nannie Walker Wood, and Harry Lee Walker and Eliza Bannister Walker.
The Walker and Wood families were significant to the life of First Baptist Church and the Lexington community. “Having businesses along Main Street in Downtown Lexington and owning property around the city, First Baptist Church is honoring the contributions of these family members who made the church and the wider community strong and significant,” said the Rev. McKinley Williams, the church’s pastor.
First Baptist Church of Lexington, organized on Sunday Sept. 22, 1867, will celebrate 157 years and the sixth anniversary of Pastor McKinley Williams on the exact day the church was founded, Sept. 22.
The service begins at 11 a.m. with a 12:30 p.m. lunch served for everyone.
