Jeanine Wittlinger started her sanctuary with one goal in mind: to offer a nurturing haven for animals who have faced neglect and abuse.
Fueled by her motto “Be kind to every kind,” she worked as a veterinary technician for 12 years, but now focuses all her time on caring for her many roommates: 73 other animals.
During her veterinary career, she worked in small animal medicine, orthopedic surgery, critical care, and wildlife rehabilitation. She began her own personal animal sanctuary in 2020. Her life has never been the same since, in the best ways possible, she said.
Wittlinger’s typical day involves meticulously cleaning the animals’ pens, ensuring their food and water supplies are replenished, attending to their medical requirements, and uplifting their spirits.
As she continues to adopt more animals into her family, however, she needs volunteers to aid her in meeting their nutritional and medical needs.
Volunteers could join the initiative weekly, monthly, or whenever their schedule allows, but every helping hand would be highly appreciated, she said.
