In the last two weeks’ news, I reported Fabian Garther and family were visiting the area from Germany. This past Sunday, he taught Bob Gilbert’s Sunday school class and gave us an interesting presentation about the church and religious practices in Germany.
Small group worship will be held 7 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 26, at the fellowship hall with Joe Hawes leading the Bible study. Everyone is invited to attend.
This coming Sunday, Sept. 29, we will receive the mission offering for our missionary, the Rev. Paul Sydnor, who serves the mission field in Turkey.
Also, on Sunday, Sept. 29, the women’s circles will have a joint meeting in the fellowship hall at 4 p.m. The meeting begins with a potato bar, salads and desserts. There will be an overview of the new Bible study for 2024-25.
There will be a congregational meeting to elect new church officers during worship service on Oct. 6. Also on that day, the Rev. Steve Willis will conduct a new membership class after church worship for those wishing to join or any member can attend.
The evening circle will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, with Betsy Shepherd. The afternoon circle will meet Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. with Connie Powell.
The Presbyterian Women’s Coordinating team is making plans for the fall chili cook-off in November. Leigh Ann McCoy, chairperson of the nominating committee, will present a slate of new officers at the Nov. 3 meeting.
Beth Horon United Methodist Church will be meeting with Trinity and Lithia United Methodist churches at Camp Bethel for a special group service this coming Sunday, Sept. 29, led by their pastor, the Rev. W. Douglas Mitchell.
The Natural Bridge/Glasgow food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, and close at 11 a.m. The High Bridge congregation is collecting pasta and cooking oil for the food pantry during the month of September.
