The Rockbridge Pieceworkers Quilt Guild returned to the Virginia Horse Center venue Sept. 12-14 to present its Quilts in the Country Quilt Show. The Guild exhibit was held in conjunction with the Rockbridge Regional Fair and Expo, also back at the horse center.
The Guild members, as well as several guest quilters, presented over 68 handmade quilts for display in the Appomattox Mezzanine in the Anderson Coliseum.
In addition to the exhibit, the Guild held some quilting demonstrations and “make and take” projects for visitors to try, a lecture on Civil War reproduction quilts and sold tickets for their raffle quilt to benefit Project Horizon in Lexington.
Over 590 guests visited the show and were invited to cast a vote for their Viewers’ Choice Favorite Quilt. And the winners were … First place – “Paradise in Bloom” by Kerry Van Sant; Second place – “Ornaments Like Mom Had” by Linda Puhle; Third place – “Momma And Me Bear” by Alice McDonald.
