Person Injured In Shooting
A Lexington man has been arrested and charged with two felonies in connection with a shooting incident at a house on Musket Loop in Natural Bridge on the night of Sept. 15.
Khaydon Oshurel Brooks, 23, was charged with one count of malicious shooting and one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He was also charged with one misdemeanor count of reckless handling of a firearm.
Tony McFaddin, deputy chief with the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office, told The News-Gazette that Brooks and another individual got into an argument outside of a house on Musket Loop, and a third individual fired a shot into the air. Brooks then began shooting, injuring one person. That individual was airlifted to the Carilion Hospital in Roanoke for treatment.
Brooks is currently being held without bond. A preliminary hearing on all three charges is scheduled for Dec. 11.
County Supervisor Charged With DUI
Walker’s Creek Supervisor Albert Jenner “Jay” Lewis was arrested by the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 15 and charged with one misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated. This is his first offense.
The arrest was made at a traffic safety checkpoint where deputies with the sheriff’s office were assisting state police officers. A RCSO deputy, alerted to Lewis’s state, began a DWI investigation, resulting in the arrest. Lewis has been released on bond and has a court date scheduled for Nov. 13. -The Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office made the following felony arrests over the past month: Scottie Everette Ingram, of Craigsville, for one count of obtaining money under false pretenses, one count of grand larceny and one count of larceny with intent to sell on Sept. 29.
Christopher Lee Cash, of Vesuvius, for one felony count of possession of a schedule I or II drug and one misdemeanor count of fleeing law enforcement on Sept. 27.
Bobbi Lee Shifflett, 25, of Lexington, for one felony count of child neglect, one misdemeanor count of obstruction of justice, one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, one misdemeanor count of fleeing law enforcement and one misdemeanor count of being drunk in public on Sept. 23.
Joshua Dylan Parsons, 27, of Lexington, for two felony counts of assault on law enforcement, one felony count of child neglect, one misdemeanor count of obstruction of justice, one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, one misdemeanor count of fleeing law enforcement and one misdemeanor count of being drunk in public on Sept. 23.
Briar Jace Austin, 21, of Lexington, for two counts of possession of a schedule I or II drug on Sept. 19.
Trevor Mason Campbell, 23, of Afton, for one felony count of making a bomb threat, one misdemeanor count of property damage and one misdemeanor count of public intoxication on Sept. 18.
Harley Ray Miller, 28, of Natural Bridge Station, for one felony count of possession of a schedule I or II drug, one felony count of possession of a firearm with a schedule I or II drug and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia on Sept. 14.
George Lester Jenkins Jr., 42, of Hardy, for one count of giving a false statement on a federal firearm form on Sept. 14.
Donnie Carl Herring, 77, of Lexington, for one count of possession of child pornography with intent to distribute and 17 counts of possession of child pornography with intent to distribute (second or subsequent offense) on Sept. 12.
Alyssa Faith Clark, 18, of Natural Bridge Station, for one count of communicating threats on Sept. 12.
Phillip Gregory Tomlin, 34, of Lexington, for one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug on Sept. 9. -The Lexington Police Department made the following felony arrest last week: Daniel Robin Williams, 31, of Glasgow, for one count of embezzlement on Sept. 25. -The Buena Vista Police Department made the following felony arrest in the past month: Thomas Jeffrey Higgins II, 43, of Fairfield, for two felony counts of possession of a schedule I or II drug, one felony count of possession of a firearm with a controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of fictitious tags on Sept. 9.
