At Fairfield UMC’s Homecoming

At Fairfield UMC’s Homecoming

Approximately 120 people attended the first homecoming at Fairfield United Methodist Church in nearly 20 years on Sept. 22. Among those was Frances Banks Newman (center) from California, a daughter of the Rev. John T. Banks, who was the minister at the church from 1947 to 1949. Talking with her are (from left) Virginia Clemmer, Betty Campbell Bear, Mary Catherine Clemmer and Bonnie Wilmer. Previous pastors who attended the event included the Rev. Doug Gunsalus and the Rev. Jim Simmons. The guest speaker at the homecoming was evangelist Steve Wingfield, a brother of Wayne Wingfield, who was a minister at the church from 1961 to 1963. Guest performers at the event included current church member Abby Brooks, and the Bowers brothers, sons of Lee Bowers, who was minister at the church 1964-1969. (Mary Woodson photo)
